Temperature dependent charge/discharge current

Hello together,

I want to ask if there is a possibility to set some temperature dependent (only continuous, no pulse) charge/discharge current according to the data sheet. As far as I know only two temperatures can be set where charge and discharge can be forbidden completely.

Hi Kuchengeschmack,

Good to see you still around

At the moment there is no way to do this. I have passed it on to our software engineer to attempt two releases from now, but it’s probably worth considering why the problem is there in the first place:

  • It’s probably worth considering that 0.5C is quite fast, that’s a full battery in two hours, and you might get 6 hours of good sun in a day (dependent on climate of course), so the battery can be sized larger for a given solar to lower its C-rate
  • You could consider a passive way of warming the batteries, like scavenging heat from the inverters/chargers conditionally (with the “heating required” output on the Expansion tied to a fan)

Definitely not a “no” but you might be able to beat us to an even better solution!

Hi guys

I would also be very interested to have at least 2-3 points to set.

As my battery is in a Camper Van and the temperatures are half a year below 10*C.

My Camper when its parked behaves like a ESS for my House.

Thx and BR
Josip
