Cannot connect to watchmon 4 and multiplus cuts out claiming low voltage

I built a 48v 220aH battery pack using prismatic cells and a Watchmon 4 with Batrium shunt commissioned in Nov '22. I used a laptop to set it up and for about six months I was able to access data from the Watchmon 4. Suddenly for no apparent reason I couldn’t connect to it any more so continued to use the system blindly, occasionally checking individual cell voltages that there was no major imbalance.

A few months ago the victron Multiplus cut out claiming low voltage at 50 percent SOC. Since then it has cut out at a progressively higher SOC until now when it cuts out each night at around 90 percent SOC. The voltage when it cuts out is between about 51.3 and 52.3v. The low cutout voltage on the multiplus is set at 42v. The system comes back on when the generator is started or the sun hits the panels in the morning.

I used a MK3 dongle and thought i had changed the victron system to a SOC
cutout initially set at 40 percent but the system cut out again this morning at 0130 at 90 percent SOC and voltage over 51.
When I try to connect to the Watchmon 4 by plugging in its usb the laptop tells me that the usb has malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it. I’ve uninstalled the usb drivers with no change. Trying to connect to the Watchmon 4 by wifi, it is intermittently visible in available devices but when I put in the six digit pin code, the connect box remains greyed out.

So I have a malfunctioning system but unable to see whether the Batrium can offer any clues to its origin. Any thoughts on how to connect to the Watchmon 4 will be appreciated.

It may be apparent already but i have poor literacy in this space so the solution may be glaringly obvious to others.

Hi Tommyfld,

I would love to take a look at your Batrium system to find the cause here. Could you either:

  • PM me your serial number if you have provisioned your device to our BMI system OR
  • Send us a manual extract at info@batrium.com

Sounds like your SoC may have drifted due to incorrect settings. I am keen to take a dive to find out if this is the case or something deeper

Hi James,
Thanks for your input. I’m preparing an email to send.
Tom.
